Demon Slayer: Hashira Training arc (season 4) episode 6 was released on Sunday, June 16, 2024, on Crunchyroll. The episode was titled “The Strongest of the Demon Slayer Corps,” focusing on Tanjiro and other demon slayers’ training under Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima.
The episode begins with Gyomei Himejima explaining the process of his Muscle Amplification Training. It consists of three steps, the first of which is cold plunging under the waterfall. This is followed by lifting a stack of three logs and pushing a boulder to move it one cho away.
Upon hearing the strenuous tasks, Zenitsu faints. Himejima suggests putting him in the river. After the freezing water wakes him, he hugs a boulder to warm his body at the suggestion of a fellow demon slayer. As such, the training begins on a rough note. As Tanjiro walks through the freezing water to begin his waterfall training, he notices Inosuke trying his best. However, he realizes Inosuke stops chanting because he has fainted, prompting the protagonist to rescue him.
Tanjiro finds the training harsh but does not give up. Later, during lunch, Inosuke asserts that Himejima is the strongest Hashira. However, Zenitsu protests, stating that the Stone Hashira is tormenting the demon slayers and that he cannot move a boulder like he has asked them to do.
Tanjiro defends Himejima while Zenitsu witnesses him push a boulder behind Tanjiro. As Inosuke moves to the next level of training, Tanjiro and Zenitsu complete their waterfall training. Shortly after, Tanjiro completes log lifting.
Demon Slayer season 4 episode 6: Genya assists Tanjiro during the training
Demon Slayer season 4 episode 6 then shifts focus to Nakime spying over demon slayers. She informs the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, that she has located 60% of the demon slayers. However, she regretfully tells him she has not yet located the “girl who conquered the sun,” aka Nezuko.
Muzan praises Nakime’s growth and asks her to continue her search. She finds two demon slayers whom Muzan commands her to keep following. While Nakime follows the demon slayers, Muzan affirms that he will locate Nezuko and Ubuyashiki soon.
The episode moves out of the Infinity Castle and focuses on Tanjiro trying to push a huge boulder. Irrespective of his effort, the boulder does not move. Soon, he meets his fellow trainees, who inform him they are heading down the mountain because they cannot keep up with the training.
Tanjiro respects their decision and tells them he is counting on them. They feel motivated by Tanjiro’s words and promise to assist him as they behead Muzan Kibutsuji. The protagonist then prepares rice cakes to everyone’s liking. The demon slayers probe why the Hashira do not have a Tsuguko and state that every Tsuguko must have run off due to Hashira’s harsh training. They use a fainted Zenitsu as an example, affirming that the Hashira training is demotivating in the guise of being harsh.
Later, Tanjiro returns to boulder training and realizes that time is running out, as he has already spent six days training under Himejima. While he analyzes why he cannot move the boulder, Genya appears and tells him that his demon slayer mark has gotten darker. He informs Tanjiro about his confinement after what happened with his brother, Sanemi. The demon slayer also informs Tanjiro that he can move the boulder and suggests he use repetitive motion.
Considering Genya’s suggestion, Tanjiro realizes that Himejima and Genya revive their pain through repetitive motion. This increases their heart rate and body temperature, allowing them to move the boulder. He also understands that repetitive motion is different from Total Concentration Breathing, which he is familiar with.
After dinner, Tanjiro recalls his family’s death and employs repetitive motion. With Inosuke and Zenitsu as witnesses, Tanjiro successfully moves the boulder, and his demon slayer mark darkens. Toward the end, the episode shows Muzan thinking about what Muzan looks like and where he is stationed.
