On Sunday, June 9, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of Spy x Family unveiled a new visual to announce the anime’s third season. However, other important details, like the release date for Spy x Family season 3, have yet to be announced.
Kazuaki Shimada, the character designer and chief animation director, drew the ‘Super Teaser Visual’ for Spy x Family season 3, while Yuni Yoshida, the art director, designed it. The visual shows the pink-haired protagonist, Anya Forger, curled up for a nap with her psychic pet dog, Bond Forger, inside a messy room.
Spy x Family: Everything to know about the anime
The first season of Spy x Family began airing in April 2022, and its second season aired in October 2023. Both seasons are currently available on Crunchyroll, which describes the anime as: “World peace is at stake and secret agent Twilight must undergo his most difficult mission yet—pretend to be a family man.”
The streaming platform continues, “Posing as a loving husband and father, he’ll infiltrate an elite school to get close to a high-profile politician. He has the perfect cover, except his wife’s a deadly assassin and neither knows each other’s identity. But someone does, his adopted daughter who’s a telepath!”
Spy x Family season 3 will likely adapt Loid’s backstory arc while making room for a few anime-original scenes, as it has done in the past. As such, the new season will shed light on Loid’s character and his decision to become a spy. This, in turn, will explain his current dynamics with his adopted daughter for Operation Strix, Anya Forger.
Following Spy x Family Season 2, the Spy x Family Code: White anime film premiered in Japan on December 22, 2023. Later, Crunchyroll launched the film in North American theaters on April 19. The original anime film became a sensational hit, opening at number 1 in the Japanese box office and at number 5 in the American box office.
