Oblivion Battery episode 8 recap
Episode 8, titled “3D Baseball isn’t really my thing,” starts with everyone training on the field. Now that Todo has recovered from the yips, Yamada is pleased with the positive atmosphere. Todo goes to check on Kei and finds him playing a baseball game on his phone. He drags him back and asks him to take training seriously, as they need him to be a bit average.
However, Kei asks everyone to just cover for him. Chihaya then explains the positions and the importance of a center fielder to Kei. They return to practice, and Kei runs away due to the pain and pressure placed on him. He arrives on the roof and meets Kazuki Tsuchiya.
Kei is fascinated with playing 2D baseball and expresses his dislike for the 3D version. He tells them he used to play baseball as a center fielder but quit. Kei then drags him to practice to meet everyone. He arrives and stuns everyone with his speed before running away again. They decide to look for him but can’t find him anywhere. Soon after, Kei chooses to skip training again and finds Kazuki on the roof.
The two play a game to determine if he joins the team, but Kei loses. Despite losing, Kei drags him back, and he participates in the practice. Chihaya suggests he try a jumping catch, but he remains skeptical. Kazuki manages to pull it off and is shocked by the incredible feeling. He then officially joins the team. The episode ends with Todo apologizing to Kei for giving him a hard time.
