With Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 260, Gege Akutami gave the fandom some hope about Gojo Satoru’s return after his demise in chapter 236 of the manga. The last panel of chapter 260 reveals “unmistakable eyes” that resemble the white-haired sorcerer. However, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 spoilers and leaks reveal that even though Gojo Satoru is back, it is not how fans imagined him to be back in the story. However, when and how did he die?
How did Gojo Satoru die?
Fans felt it was almost unreal when Gojo, one of the central characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, had to meet his end in the manga. In chapter 236, during the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, he dies at the hands of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses.
The chapter shows the aftermath of one of the most epic fights in Jujutsu Kaisen’s history. Sukuna and Gojo engage in a battle in which the latter injures the King of Curses, but its conclusion shocks fans as they find Gojo dead.
In the chapter, he meets with those who had already died in the manga, including Geto and Nanami, and discusses how all his power and skills could not defeat Sukuna. However, he claims to have enjoyed the battle. Sukuna also acknowledges Gojo’s power and calls him an unforgettable opponent.
Though Gojo’s death left the fandom in shambles, they kept hoping that his death was a mere ploy and that he would be back. Mangaka Gege Akutami is known for notoriously killing fans’ beloved characters, but, for once, it was as if he catered to the fans when he teased Gojo’s return in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 260.
Did Gojo Satoru revive? Explained
Unfortunately, all hopes were shattered with the Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 leaks and spoilers. Sukuna could not believe his eyes when he saw Gojo Satoru standing before him, but it was not Gojo, and Sukuna quickly realized it. He then calls out to the person standing before him, addressing him as Yuta Okkotsu.
A flashback in the Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 spoilers reveals that Rika devoured Kenjaku and imitated his cursed technique. This enabled the Special Grade sorcerer to switch bodies. Kusakabe thought of a brilliant idea to imitate Six Eyes or Limitless. However, Shoko informed him that copying Limitless would be in vain unless the user has Six Eyes. Mei Mei then pointed out that he could live in Gojo’s physical body forever if he wanted his Six Eyes.
Although his companions, including Maki, did not approve of the plan, Yuta thought it was the only thing they could count on. He thought of this plan as their last course of action during those desperate times. The spoilers further reveal that Yuta talked to Gojo about taking his body. The latter said that he could not care about his body after his death and thus approved the plan.
In the end, after confirming that Gojo has not revived and that Yuta Okkotsu is using Gojo’s body, the spoilers return to the present, where Sukuna and Yuta begin their battle. The chapter supposedly ends with both the sorcerers opening their respective domains. While Sukuna opens Malevolent Shrine, Yuta Okkotsu uses Gojo Satoru’s Unlimited Void, setting the stage for an action-packed upcoming issue after the manga returns from a break next week.
