Blue Lock season 2: Everything we know so far
As mentioned earlier, the official Twitter account for the Blue Lock series announced the release date window for its second season. Blue Lock season 2 will be released in October as part of the 2024 Fall anime lineup, but no exact release date has been made public yet. The details concerning the cast also remains undisclosed. However, it is expected the voice actors of the main characters will return to resume their roles.
The previous season ended with Ego Jinpachi getting ready to select the players for the upcoming match against Japan U-20. Thus, season 2 will most likely adapt the U-20 arc of the manga.
Kodansha USA, which releases the manga in English, describes the series as: “After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker who can guide them to victory. The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match.”
The synopsis continues, “And to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team? And will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?”
Meanwhile, the anime film of Kōta Sannomiya’s Bluelock (Episode Nagi) spinoff manga premiered in Japan on April 19. The film has been a major success, having sold 337,000 tickets to earn 463 million yen in its first three days. Additionally, the movie was ranked second in the Japanese box office on its opening weekend.
