Kaiju No. 8 episode 2 recap: Kafka discovers new abilities as a Kaiju
Kaiju No. 8 episode 2, “The Kaiju Who Defeats Kaiju,” kicks off with a quick recap of the previous episode. Through a flashback, the episode showcases how close Mina and Kafka were as kids, and they vowed to stay by each other’s side.
Kafka and Ichikawa then flee the hospital after causing a brief ruckus. However, Kafka’s strength after turning into a Kaiju makes things difficult for them. Moreover, Mina, along with the Third Division, is already on her way to trail the newly spotted Kaiju, aka Kafka.
Though Kafka and Ichikawa strive to escape and hide, a new Kaiju appears. However, instead of taking the opportunity to flee, Kafka runs towards the Kaiju and saves a young girl and her mother from the monster. Later, Mina arrives at the spot and is shocked to hear the little girl’s request not to hurt the “good Kaiju.”
The episode fast-forwards to three months later and reveals that the Defense Force was still searching for Kafka. However, Ichikawa has good news when he finds out that he and Kafka have cleared the Defense Force exam’s first round.
Following this, the duo shows up to the exam’s second round, only for them to encounter a difficult opponent, Kikoru Shinomiya. She destroys Kafka’s truck and sniffs him only to tell him that he smells like a Kaiju, posing a threat to Kafka’s secret.
