Urusei Yatsura episode 13 recap
The episode starts with Ataru and Ran worrying about Mendo after he has been absent from school. They learn of his isolated training and visit him with their remaining friends. Lum learns he has been training to conquer his claustrophobia and nyctophobia but has yet to succeed.
She offers to help him by sending him back in time to eliminate his fear. They run into Past Mendo, who chases them away from his house with his bodyguards. While Mendo distracts the guards, Lum and the rest of the group kidnap young Mendo. After covering him up, Ataru discovers he isn’t afraid of the dark. However, their discussions are interrupted by the appearance of young Ryoko, who arrives to save her brother.
Later, Mendo and Ataru are captured by Young Mendo and forced to act as entertainment. Meanwhile, Lum, Ryu, and Shinobu sneak into the mansion to rescue them. Young Mendo traps his older self in the dark, forcing him to break out of his confinement and chase him and Ataru. Ataru leaves him hidden inside one of the jars and goes to distract Mendo. The episode ends with them finding out Mendo is still scared of the dark and that the incident was responsible for young Mendo’s trauma.
