Mission: Yozakura Family episode 2, “The Life of Cherry Blossoms at Night,” aired on Sunday, April 14, 2024. After surviving Kyoichiro’s brutal assault in the previous episode, Asano faces his new reality as a member of the Yozakura Family.
The episode starts with Asano leaving the Yozakura Family Mansion after marrying Mutsumi. The next day, Kyoichiro wakes him up and attacks him with a knife, calling it training. He uses his steel threads to bully Asano but is interrupted by Mutsumi, who arrives with breakfast. However, Kyoichiro flings them both out of the room after he notices a bomb inside.
He tells Asano that his relationship with Mutsumi is public knowledge and that he will be in danger. Kyoichiro reveals Mutsuru’s identity as the tenth head of the Yozakura family and explains what that means. He tells him their mission is to keep the head of the family safe from those who would want to end the Yozakua line.
While they talk, mercenaries who want to kill Mutsumi and Asano interrupt them. Kyoichiro, who is annoyed that they interrupted his teatime, climbs the car’s roof to handle them. He quickly works on them and returns to give Asano his first mission.
Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 2 Spoilers: Asano’s First Mission
After dealing with the mercenaries, Kyoichiro gives Asano a gun and tells him to protect Mutsuru for the whole day. He also informs him about a serial bomber who had posted about using three bombs to deal with her. After the one in his apartment, he is left to find the two remaining bombs in school.
Asano’s paranoia makes him stand out as he searches all the lockers and corners of their school for it. He notices a dark shadow in the hallway during P.E. and investigates it. His search leads him to the infirmary, where he meets the nurse, who asks if he needs treatment but declines.
He then joins everyone in the class, discussing the strange sightings happening in the school. Meanwhile, Asano finally notices Mutsumi’s real personality in school as a way to keep her safe from danger. He is interrupted by his classmates, who offer him chocolate, which causes him to faint.
He wakes up to see Mutsumi taking care of him and apologizes to her for having to marry him. However, she hits him, telling him she always wanted him to be her husband and thanks him for marrying her. While he lay down, he notices the bomb on the ceiling of the room and uses the sofa to protect both of them. Asano deduces everything was done to lead them here.
He then notices the bomb strapped to his shirt and jumps out the window to save Mutsumi. However, he is saved by Kyoichiro, who tells him he can always count on the family to keep him safe. The episode ends with Asano moving into the Yozakora family mansion.
