The Irregular at Magic High School season 3 episode 1 recap
The Irregular at Magic High School season 3 episode 1 marked the beginning of the Double Seven Arc. While much of the episode focuses on the Shiba siblings, Miyuki and Tatsuya, the Saegusa sisters and Kuroba twins also make an appearance.
After three long years, the episode shows the development of characters at the school. The plot is set in April 2096, when the Shiba siblings join the Department of Magical Engineering, a newly introduced department at the academy. The episode also shows a reunion between the Shiba siblings and their companions, who have each joined a suitable department.
The episode then introduces Shippou, a member of the Ten Clans, who is the class representative of the year. After establishing the student council members’ positions, the Shiba siblings and Shippou do not seem to meet eye-to-eye, adding tension to the room and setting the stage for a potential clash between Tatsuya and Shippou.
Later, Mayumi Saegusa shows up at the academy to chaperone her younger sisters. She meets Tatsuya, which leads to friendly banter between the two. However, one of Mayumi’s younger sisters, Kasumi, barges in to “protect” her sister from Tatsuya when she senses something suspicious happening between the two.
The episode subsequently introduces the Saegusa twins, Izumi and Kasumi. The former seems to be gushing over Miyuki and wishes Miyuki to become her elder sister. The scene cuts to the school assembly after the hilarious exchange between the Shiba siblings and the Saegusa siblings.

The episode ends with intense action involving the Kuroba twins, who seem to be on some undercover spy mission on a boat, setting the mood for the new season.
