Ninja Kamui episode 9 was released on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 12 a.m. ET. Adult Swim broadcasts the anime in Canada and the U.S.A., while the episodes are available to stream the following day on Max.
Titled “An Elegant Battle,” the episode turned the entire course of the anime around with its ending. The beginning of the episode starts with Emma explaining how AUZA has access to the best technology. Moreover, it has enough resources and funds to drive the organization, crediting how they are doing a favor to humanity.
Soon, Emma reveals her plan to the team, explaining that she, with Higan, would shut down the active power plants while stealing the energy supplies that AUZA uses to operate. Meanwhile, Mike states that he will work with Jason to continue their investigation of AUZA and dig dirt on them. Emma allows Mike to use her computer for the task.
Later, Yamaji and AUZA’s CEO argue about AUZA’s fate. As the CEO reiterates his intentions to gain control of the world, Yamaji threatens to eradicate him as a part of the ninja duty. However, the scene then cuts to Zai, hinting at a brutal confrontation with Higan in the upcoming episodes.
Ninja Kamui episode 9: Higan and Big D’s combat takes center stage
Returning to the exiled ninjas, the episode shows Emma explaining the functioning of the Gusoku Gear to Higan. The former states that she finds Jason’s skills useful and that they will successfully hack AUZA’s system if they work together.
After a few hearty scenes involving Emma and others, AUZA’s CEO is seen losing his temper with the politician when the latter confronts him about the chaos caused in the past few days due to AUZA. The CEO then inquires Big D’s status, who had already set himself in action.
Following the request that Mike makes to Higan to protect Emma, Big D appears in his suit. Meanwhile, Emma and Jason hack into AUZA’s system. However, the duo remains focused despite Big D’s attack. Higan also shows up in his Gusoku Gear to fight Big D. Meanwhile, Emma joins Mike to battle against the AUZA troops.
Ninja Kamui episode 9: Did Emma die?
Amid the showdown, Mike gets hit by a bullet, but his bulletproof armor saves him from dying. At the same time, Higan and Big D engage in an intense fight, ultimately leading to the latter’s defeat.
When it seems like everything will end well for Higan and the team, Big D’s suit suddenly glows, indicating that an explosive has been fit into his armor. The AUZA CEO had already planned to kill everyone involved with Higan.
Fortunately, Emma protects Higan and Mike, but she takes the blow and dies in the explosion. While dying, she shows her real face to Mike, making the climax bittersweet as Mike tells her that he considers her as his daughter. Moreover, he says he would accept her no matter what. The episode ends with Higan bracing himself to seek revenge on Yamaji and AUZA, preparing the audiences for more intense battles in line.
