Jujutsu Kaisen has introduced many cursed tools and objects throughout the series. These cursed tools are important for sorcerers who are unable to use or do not possess cursed energy. But so far, no weapon has had more of an impact than the Zen’ins Split Soul katana.
The Split Soul Katana was initially introduced into the series as Toji Fushiguro’s primary weapon of choice. He used this weapon to fight against series favourites Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo. However, after his death, the weapon was lost, and unknown to some, Mai Zenin left behind a replica for her sister, Maki Zenin.
The Split Soul Katana: Jujutsu Kaisen’s strongest cursed tool
As mentioned earlier, cursed tools are important in the arsenal of most Jujutsu Sorcerers. These objects significantly boost a character’s powers and abilities, as Toji Fushiguro personally exemplified.
Despite the name, the Split Soul Katana is not a katana but a large Japanese broadsword. The power of the split soul katana is represented in its value. The Katana was worth 500,000,000 Yen on the black market, making it one of the series’ most expensive weapons.
The Split Soul Katana is a cursed tool capable of bypassing all physical surfaces and striking directly at the target’s soul. It ignores all physical toughness to cut through the hardest substances and strike directly at the soul. The sword’s full potential can only be unleashed by those with eyes that can see the souls of inorganic objects—those who cannot only use thirty percent of the blade’s power.
Who Actually Owns The Cursed Tool
Toji Fushiguro is shown using the sword on his mission to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai. During the mission, he was able to show his prowess against both Geto and Gojo, defeating them both. While he fought with Geto, he unleashed the rainbow dragon, his most potent curse at the time. However, Toji was able to use the Katana to bypass the dragon shell, destroying it from within.
After obtaining the sword from her sister Mai, Maki used the split soul Katana to destroy the Zenin clan. She began her Killing spree by bisecting her father’s head with a single stroke of the blade. She dual-wielded it alongside the dragon blade during her fight against the Kokoru unit.
The Katana became Maki’s primary weapon of choice, using it during the culling game to clear out the Sakurajima Colony. However, she initially struggled to bring out the Katana’s full power. The only other person who used the Katana was Hagane Daido, who borrowed it to cut Naoya’s cursed spirit body. Maki was later able to draw out the full power of the Split Soul Katana by gaining the necessary sight. Once she realized its full power, she cut through Naoya’s body and soul in one strike, effortlessly defeating him inside his own domain.
In the latest chapters of the series, Maki, now referred to as the strongest human, wields the Katana to fight against Ryomen Sukuna.
