The beloved fantasy romance anime Spice and Wolf returns to the screens with a new series, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf. The official X account of the anime television adaptation revealed the series’ promotional trailer on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The trailer video unveils the theme songs of the anime. As such, the anime’s opening, “Tabi no Yukue”, is performed by Hana Hope, and the musical duo ClariS performs its ending, “Andante”.

As previously announced, the anime will air on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 25:30 JST, translating to April 2, 2024, at 1:30 a.m. JST. In Japan, local Japanese channels, including TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, BS TV Tokyo, AT-X, and TV Aichi, will broadcast the episode and the entire anime TV series.
After its original premiere in Japan, Crunchyroll will stream the anime globally. The web streaming platform describes the anime in the following manner: “Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal!”
Crunchyroll continues, “Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.”
The original Spice and Wolf anime director, Takeo Takahashi, returns to the franchise as the anime’s chief director. Moreover, Hijiri Sanpei is directing the anime at Studio Passione. Kevin Penkin, famous for Made in Abyss and Tower of God, handles music composition while ENISHIYA produces the series.
The stellar cast includes Ami Koshimizu as Holo and Jun Fukuyama as Kraft Lawrence. Among supporting actors, the series has announced that Mai Nakahara will voice Norah Arendt, and Houchuu Ootsuka will voice Marhait Liechten.
