Sharingans are one of the three great dojutsu In Naruto. The normal Sharingan starts as possessing one tomoe. However, it is said that through intense training and emotional stress, one can awaken the true potential of their Sharingan. A fully matured Sharingan grants the user great perception and visual prowess.
Almost every member of the Uchiha Clan has awakened their Sharingan. However, there is another stage of evolution for this dojutsu. This is quite a rare occurrence, and it is called the Mangekyou Sharingan. Sasuke Uchiha acquired this great power, so let’s explore how he used it.
Sasuke Uchiha’s Mangekyou Sharingan explained.
The protagonist of Naruto had his fair share of struggles. However, Sasuke led quite a tragic life, too. Since the beginning of the series, he was the only survivor of the Uchiha Clan Massacre. He had to witness his brother, Itachi, kill his entire clan in a night. Upon questioning why he did so, he simply said he wished to test himself.
Sasuke was scared because of this incident. He swore to seek revenge on his brother.
In Naruto Shippuden, Sasuke finally gets the opportunity to fight Itachi. Although their fight is intense, and Sasuke barely manages to be the victor, he doesn’t kill his brother. Itachi dies from expending too much chakra.
Following his death, Sasuke was taken in by Obito, who revealed the truth behind Itachi’s actions. Sasuke learned that Itachi was put in a position to choose between his clan and his village.
Even after killing his parents, Itachi couldn’t muster the will to finish off his little brother. He spared Sasuke’s life but took the necessary precautions to ensure his safety.
After learning the truth, Sasuke broke down. His actions and Itachi’s predicament dejected him. The emotional trauma of losing his brother ultimately caused him to awaken his Mangekyo Sharingan.
