Bucchigiri?! episode 8 recap: Shindou takes advantage of Matakara’s vulnerability
Bucchigiri?! episode 8 was titled “Sad News! Seriously Falling in Love with Gomoku Soba!” and primarily revolved around Matakara. As the latter prepares to welcome his brother Mitsukuni, a flashback takes viewers back to when the former was a kid. In the flashback, Mitsukuni explains the ways of the Honki people, describing them as strong and pure. Moreover, they never run away in the face of danger.
Later, Matakara rescues Shindou from some NG boys. Shindou then claims to know the secret behind Arajin’s strength but leaves Matakara hanging by not revealing it. The following day, at Arajin’s restaurant, Matakara’s friends prepare to welcome Mitsukuni back from prison.
When Matakara eagerly goes to fetch his brother, an officer informs him that Mitsukuni got stabbed while trying to meddle in a fight. A helpless Matakara disappears, putting everyone in concern. A shadow follows him wherever he goes, and when he visits Arajin the next night, Senya suddenly appears in front of Matakara.
Naturally, this scares him, and he runs away. Later, Arajin finds Matakara at the shrine of the Honki people. There, the protagonist reveals that, when they were little, he had abandoned Matakara when the bullies beat the latter up. Arajin also unveils the truth behind his superhuman strength, filling him in about Senya.
A disheartened and vulnerable Matakara resorts to the Honki shrine, only for Shindou to come and take advantage of his vulnerability. As such, due to the antagonist, Ichiya appears in front of Matakara, setting the stage for an unexpected development in the story.
