Shy: Everything we know about the anime
Shy anime’s debut season aired on October 2, 2024, on TV Tokyo and its affiliated networks. While the Shy season 2 streaming service has not yet been officially announced, the anime’s first season is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
The webcasting platform describes the anime as follows: “On the brink of a third World War, superheroes appeared on Earth. Gifted with powers, their appearance brings peace to the world. The heroes each selected a country in which they would reside, serve, and protect its citizens. Shy is Japan’s hero, endowed with super strength. Her most daunting enemy yet? Crippling shyness. Join Shy and her super friends as she defends Earth and gains confidence!”
The new shinobi princess in the teaser visual, Ai Tennoji, is a new character and introduces a new cast member, Kotori Koiwai. While Koiwai is famous for voicing Elaine in The Seven Deadly Sins, Hiromi Ueda from Tales of Wedding Rings will play the role of Utsuro. Utsoru is another new character whom Crunchyroll describes as “a shadowy member of the Amarairuku.”
Masaomi Andō will continue directing the anime at Studio 8-bit while Yasuhiro Nakanishi composes the series. Moreover, Akihiro Sueda is responsible for character design, and Hinako Tsubakiyama remains in charge of music.
The anime is based on Bukimi Miki’s SHY manga, published as a one-shot magazine in the Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine. While the manga was initially published in January 2017, the Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine began its serialization in August 2019.
