The Apothecary Diaries episode 18 recap
The Apothecary Diaries episode 18 picks up the story from the previous episode. In the Pleasure District, Maomao and Jinshi part ways as the protagonist heads home. The next day, she wakes up in panic due to a nightmare. This nightmare reveals her mother’s identity—a courtesan who is now suffering from syphilis and is dying.
The peculiar thing about the nightmare was that she somehow seemed to recall how she was almost killed as an infant. However, when she wakes up, her father sends her to the Verdigris House with some medicines to tend to the same bedridden courtesan.
Later in the episode, Lord Lakan proudly reveals to Jinshi that he is Maomao’s biological father. Moreover, he informs Jinshi that he would like to visit her sometime in the palace. When Jinshi proposes this to Maomao, he understands that she is not comfortable with such a meeting.
Finally, Maomao encounters Suirei, who reveals to the protagonist that she intends to plant morning glories. As the myth goes, these herbs can resurrect a person from the dead.
