According to the film’s official website, the narrative follows the adventures of Kaito Kid in Hakodate, Hokkaido, in Japan. This time, his target is a Japanese sword that has connections with Toshizo Hijikata. Kaido’s motives are suspicious, so the detectives get to work to catch him.
While attending a kendo tournament, detectives Conan and Heiji Hattori confront Kaito head-on. At the same time, officials discover a mysterious body with a cross-shaped cut. Upon investigation, it is revealed that the body is linked to a Japanese-American arms dealer. This dealer is searching for wartime treasure, which can potentially modify history.
All these revelations ultimately circle back to one person: Kaito Kid. His search for the Japanese sword, accompanied by an enigmatic swordsman emerging out of the blue, adds excitement to the plot.
As for the manga, Gosho Aoyama is still authoring the Detective Conan series. Shogakukan began the manga’s serialization in January 1994. Since then, the shōnen manga has become a viral sensation with a television series adaptation in 1996 and 26 previously released films. As mentioned before, the upcoming film is 27th in the franchise, adding to the vast legacy of Aoyama’s manga series.
