Fujimoto’s Look Back one-shot manga: Everything you need to know
Describing the lot, VIZ Media, the publishing house that serialized the manga in English, writes, “The overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. A poignant story of growing up and moving forward that only Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, could have crafted.”
Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ serialized Fujimoto’s manga in July 2021, while Viz Media and MANGA Plus launched it in English. The manga achieved a grand feat as it scored over 2.5 million views within the first day of its release. It is also available in print, courtesy of VIZ Media.
The Chainsaw Man mangaka won the first Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards for Look Back in May 2023. Not only that, but the manga also climbed to the top as the number one title in Takarajimasha’s This Manga Is Amazing! guidebook in its 2022 edition. Furthermore, in 2023, the one-shot manga received a nomination for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. It came second to The Darwin incident in the 15th Manga Taishō in 2022.
With multiple accolades to its name, the manga is already sensational within the fandom. Now that the title is receiving an anime adaptation, fans are excited and nervous to see whether the film will meet their expectations.
