The One Piece series has introduced many exciting characters to its story, but Kaido gained more attention from the fans. Kaido, aka “The King of Beasts,” is one of the strongest characters in One Piece. He is the captain of the Beast Pirates and is referred to as one of the emperors of the sea.
The MarineFord Arc, which is still in contention for best arc of the series, featured some great and sad moments. The arc could be more chaotic than it already was, as there were reports that Kaido was on his way. At that moment, it looked like the emperor wanted to have the honor of taking down the strongest man, Whitebeard. But could that be the only reason? Since the Wano arc started, more theories about why Kaido wanted to go to Marineford have been swirling around.
One Piece: Kaido’s reasons for going to Marineford
The first and most obvious reason is to battle Whitebeard in what would have been the biggest clash in the series. During his clash with Luffy in Wano, Kaido revealed his desire to fight strong opponents. Who better to be an opponent for the strongest creature than the strongest man alive? The fight would have severely shifted the series’ dynamic had it occurred.
Kaido is introduced to fans in chapter 795, he is seen trying to kill himself by jumping down Sky Island. While this reason is highly impossible, the emperor’s demeanor while drunk raises the question of whether that could be the case. The allure of dying in a place filled with so many famous people could have intrigued the emperor, but that is highly unlikely.
Another possibility is revenge, fans were allowed to see a part of Kaido’s backstory during the Wano Arc. Not only were the Marines responsible for him getting experimented on by vegapunk. It could have also been a way for him to get revenge for the loss at God Valley.
Whatever the reason Kaido had for going to MarineFord. One obvious thing is that it was to fulfill his selfish desires. The carnage occurring in Marineford would have suited the emperor’s twisted and dark ambitions.
