Following a successful run in North American theaters earlier this year, a Suzume return date has been set, with the film returning to theaters for a brief run later this month.
In a recent announcement from Crunchyroll, the company revealed that the film would be returning to North American theaters for a special engagement beginning on Friday, October 27, 2023.
Where to get Suzume tickets
There was no official word on how long the film will stay in theaters, but tickets are now on sale on Suzume’s website. The film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles as well as an English dubbed version.
Originally released in Japan in 2022, Suzume grossed over $322 million worldwide, and became the highest-grossing film of 2022 in Japan, as well as the fourth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.
“17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, ‘I’m looking for a door,’” reads the film’s synopsis. “What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly drawn by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob. Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.”
