Rurouni Kenshin Cast Adds Popular Voice Actor Tomokazu Sugita

The Rurouni Kenshin cast has added popular voice actor Tomokazu Sugita to their roster. Last week’s fifth episode confirmed the news, with the character he is playing making a cameo.

Who is Tomokazu Sugita, and who is he voicing in Rurouni Kenshin?

Tomokazu Sugita confirmed his involvement in the Rurouni Kenshin anime in the fifth episode. He was voicing the character of Jin-e Udō, who made a brief cameo at the end of the aforementioned episode.

Sugista is a very notorious voice actor in the anime industry. His most notable roles include Gintama’s Gintoki Sakata, Joseph Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure video games, and One Piece’s Charlotte Katakuri.

His character, Jin-e Udō, is a hired assassin and has a passion for killing. That’s why he wants to fight Kenshin at his strongest because of the latter’s legend as a swordsman. He’s one of the main antagonists of the first saga in the series, known as the Tokyo arc. This portion of the series works as a prologue, introducing Kenshin, his friends, and the background of the story.

The series premiered on July 6, and Crunchyroll has been streaming as it airs. There will be two cours covering the arc. This is an anime readaptation of the manga series and has nothing to do with the 90s anime that is a cult classic.

What is the series about?

It’s Nobuhiro Watsuki’s shonen manga series which ran from 1994 to 1998. It was published by Weekly Shonen Jump and has sold over 70 million copies.

The manga enjoyed a high-quality anime adaptation by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen from 1996 to 1998. The anime has become a cult classic in the industry.

The story takes place in the 11th year of the Meiji Era in Japan (1878) and follows Kenshin Himura, the wandering swordsman.

During his youth, Kenshin committed multiple murderers, and now he wanders Japan as a vagabond with a reverse blade. He is willing to provide aid and protection for those in need as atonement for the lives he took.
