Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 2 Recap
Tanjiro sees Muichiro threaten the young swordsmith he was talking to and decides to interfere. However, Muichiro knocks Tanjiro away for butting into the conversation. He talks to the kid again, saying he should know his place as a swordsmith and that he should hand over the key. Tanjiro tells him he can’t stand him and defends the kid and his job. Muichiro knocks him unconscious, and upon waking up, the kid tells him he handed over the key. He explains that the “man” Tanjiro saw is a mechanical training doll that’s over 300 years old. It was modeled after a swordsman.
The kid explains the doll’s importance to him, and he introduces himself as Kotetsu. Tanjiro gives him a pep talk and promises to watch over the doll. Kotetsu tells Tanjiro that he needs to train with the doll and become stronger than Muichiro. He puts Tanjiro through tough training, depriving him of water and food. Eventually, Tanjiro imagines crossing the river to the afterlife. He sees a stone at the bottom of the river and senses a smell different from the Opening Thread. Tanjiro gets the hang of things and strikes the doll. Suddenly, the doll’s head breaks and the two see a sword inside.
