Gabimaru believes the Elixir of Life is real after seeing the chief of Iwakagure still alive after suffering fatal injuries. The two arrive at the island, and Gabimaru removes the rope around his wrists. However, Sagiri insists he needs to keep his hands tied. Suddenly, Gabimaru is attacked by Twisted Keiun. He uses all his weapons on Gabimaru, but Gabimaru kills him with his own weapons. Kisho cuts off Twisted Keiun’s head. Before returning, Kisho warns them that the situation will gravely change, considering the criminals have started targeting each other. He also mentions that the Iwagakure might come.
Suddenly, Gabimaru attacks Sagiri, considering her a hindrance to his objective. However, he hesitates to kill her. He remembers his wife telling him he’s not hollow and to be true to his emotions. Eventually, Gabimaru gets the upper hand in his fight with Sagiri, but he’s unable to finish her off. Sagiri realizes something about her own emotions after seeing Gabimaru struggle. She also tells him that not avoiding his emotions is an example of being strong.
Later, Tamiya Gantetsusai cuts his hand off after a butterfly with a human face stings it. He and Gabimaru are then surrounded by odd-looking creatures.
