Mashle: Magic and Muscles Anime Adaptation Sets Release Window

Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that the upcoming anime adaptation of the Mashle: Magic and Muscles manga will officially premiere in April.

The new series will join the streaming platform with new weekly episodes that simulcast on the service immediately after its premiere in Japan. The anime, based on Hajime Kōmoto’s manga that premiered in January 2020, tells the story of a magical world that sees people within society being defined by their skill and power with magic. The series focuses on Mash Burnedead, a young man who has no magic in him, but attends a magic school, and strives to be the best in his class.

Check out the new key art for the series below, as well as a new teaser trailer:

“This is a world of magic. This is a world in which magic is casually used by everyone,” reads the official synopsis. “In a deep, dark forest in this world of magic, there is a boy who is single-mindedly working out. His name is Mash Burnedead, and he has a secret. He can’t use magic. All he wanted was to live a quiet life with his family, but people suddenly start trying to kill him one day and he somehow finds himself enrolled in Magic School. There, he sets his sights on becoming a “Divine Visionary,” the elite of the elite.”

Mashle: Magic and Muscles is animated and produced by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online) and directed by Tomonari Tanaka (Engage Kiss). Series composition and the screenplay for the series was written by Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia), with character design by Hisashi Higashijima, action direction by Takesha Matsuda (Naruto Shippuden) and Hiroaki Goda (Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone), art direction by Yusa Ito (Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night), and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama (Your Lie in April).
