That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond announces its much-awaited release date along with a new poster. The series’ official Twitter account posted the information earlier today, stating the film will be coming to theaters in Japan on November 25. Crunchyroll will distribute the movie in cinemas worldwide in early 2023.
“A long-running conspiracy is swirling over a mysterious power known as ‘Queen’ in Raja, a small country west of Tempest,” the official synopsis states. “When a slime who evolved into a Demon Lord named Rimuru Tempest crosses paths with Hiiro, a survivor of the Ogre race, an incredible adventure packed with new characters begins. The power of bonds will be put to the test!”
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond will be a stand-alone story. The film follows after the end of the anime’s second season. This will be the first anime film of the series.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is an isekai light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. Shosetsuka ni Naro published the series from February 2013 to October 2015. In 2017, Yen Press licensed the series for its release in North America. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also has a manga adaptation and five spin-offs.
Animation studio Eight Bit handles the series’ anime adaptation. The first season premiered in 2018 with 24 episodes. The second season was initially supposed to air in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it aired in 2021.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime follows 37-year-old Satoru Mikami, who dies after a robber stabs him. He then reincarnates into a different world as a slime monster. Initially, he couldn’t do much. Later on, he uses his special abilities and ends up befriending a sealed Catastrophe-level dragon named Veldora. After helping Veldora out, Veldora gives him the name Rimuru Tempest. In this new world, the powerful Rimuru ventures into new adventures, meeting many friends and foes.
