Ahead of its official adaptation into a traditional Noh/Kyogen theatrical performance this year, Demon Slayer received the first visual for the show. The new visual highlights Demon Slayer‘s main character Tanjiro dressed in traditional Noh garbs. It was drawn by Demon Slayer creator Koyoharu Gotouge.

It was initially announced that the popular manga series would be adapted into a theatrical performance late last year, with a target date for the summer. For those unaware, Noh/Kyogen are some of the oldest theatrical arts still performed in Japan (and the world) and usually feature dramatic performances accompanied by the use of Noh masks, with a comedic performance (Kyogen) performed in between different Noh sets.

The Demon Slayer Noh/Kyogen performance will be award-winning Kyogen actor Nomurai Mansai II directing and performing the shows. The performances will stretch from July 26-31 at Tokyo’s Ginza Six Noh theater for a special six-day run before moving to Osaka, where it will be performed in the winter from December 9-11.
