All eight episodes will be OAD (Original Animation DVD) episodes and will air at once on December 19, 2021. The episodes will each be 23 minutes long and will aim to tell “untold stories” that take place both before and during the first three seasons of the hit anime series. Every episode will be subtitled on the platform, with the episodes also made available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Episodes 1-3 of the Attack on Titan OAD episodes will feature Hange attempting to capture their first-ever live Titan, and will also include a look back at the 104th Cadet Corps’ training. Episodes 4 & 5 are based on the Attack on Titan: No Regrets spin-off manga, and highlight the pasts of Captain Levi and Commander Erwin Smith. Finally, episodes 6-8 are based on the Attack on Titan: Lost Girls spin-off novel series, written by the Attack on Titan anime’s screenwriter Hiroshi Seko, and focus on separate stories featuring Annie Leonhart and Mikasa Ackermann.
The second part of the final season of the hit anime will also be available on Crunchyroll and Hulu and will begin with episode 76 on January 9, 2022. The cast and staff of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1 will be returning for Part 2. The first part premiered on NHK General TV back in December 2020. It also streamed on Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan.
Attack on Titan began as a manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. It was serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine between September 2009 and April 2021. The first three seasons of the anime television adaptation were produced by Wit Studios and aired between April 2013 and July 2019. While the manga has concluded, the anime is still ongoing.
