A new trailer for The Irregular at Magic High School‘s upcoming Reminiscence arc has been shared, highlighting the release date, a new theme song for the special, as well as some new footage.

The Irregular at Magic High School Reminiscence Arc will air on December 31, 2021, at 11:57 p.m. on Tokyo MX, and a special New Year’s celebration video will stream alongside the premiere on New Year’s Eve as well. The theme song, “Ripe Aster,” will be sung by Kairi Yagi.

The new arc will take place three years prior to when Tatsuya and Miyuki were enrolled in First High and will give the audience more backstory on how the two siblings became so close. Alongside the news, the studio behind the anime also announced that Kikuko Inoue (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and Aya Endo would be joining the cast.

Studio 8bit will return to produce, with Risako Yoshida serving as director for the upcoming arc. Munemasa Nakamoto will act as scriptwriter, while Kana Ishida is attached as character designer. The series is based on the Japanese web novel by Tsutomu Satō and tells the story of Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, two siblings who enroll in magic high school.
