GKIDS has announced an expansive limited Ultimate Edition Set release of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the cult-classic anime series created by Hideaki Anno.
This is the very first time Evangelion will be available on Blu-ray in North America, and the package features all 26 episodes of the original series as well as the films Evangelion:Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion. The Ultimate Edition set runs $274.99 and releases on December 8, with pre-order currently up on the GKIDS store. It’s also important to note that customers are limited to one purchase, with only 5000 sets being produced in total.
As you might expect, this version comes with a variety of different goodies for fans, which you can see below. One of the more interesting features is the classic sub and dub versions included, which are presumably the original versions used when the show first aired in North America, instead of the official updated ones used with the Netflix release.
Here’s what to expect from the Neon Genesis Evangelion Ultimate Edition set:
- Limited Edition Artwork
- Bonus Classic Dub and Subtitled Versions
- 156-page artbook
- Art Boards
- Sachiel Resin Paperweight
- NERV ID Card with Lanyard
Neon Genesis Evangelion is easily one of the most influential anime of all time, and it’s nearly impossible to get a physical copy of the series these days. With limited numbers of the Ultimate Edition Set, they’re bound to sell out sooner or later.
