Naruto: Who Invented The Rasengan?

One of the most popular jutsu from the series is probably Rasengan. It holds a special place for every Naruto fan, as this technique has been passed down generations. Created by Minato Namikaze, the Rasengan is a compressed ball of chakra spinning at high speed. It has the power to rip through anything, and this jutsu was categorized as an A-Rank Jutsu.

Who Invented The Rasengan?

Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of the Hidden Village of Konoha, was given the moniker Yellow Flash and was feared across the five nations as a formidable opponent. Minato invented the Rasengan and used to spam it during his battles. This jutsu doesn’t require hand seals or any sort of preparation, which makes it very convenient. One of the deadliest combos that Minato used was the Rasengan, along with the Flying Thunder God.

He also tried to experiment with the jutsu by combining it with his nature transformations to enhance the output. However, Minato lost his life before he could perfect the Rasengan. But he engraved his name as one of the deadliest shinobi to ever exist in the series.

How does a Rasengan work?

Minato was extremely good at performing jutsus without hand seals. That explains why he created a technique that can be performed without using hand seals. This jutsu allows the user to transform shapes even if they’re not aware of the concept of shape transformation.

A Rasengan doesn’t depend on Chakra, so it can be sustained for as long as the user wants. However, if the ball of energy hits another object, it will quickly dissipate.

We’ve seen the Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya, claim that in terms of raw powers, Chidori is overwhelmed by a Rasengan. As soon as this technique collides with a target, the compressed ball of energy explodes on that single point. This can be highly dangerous and cause grave injuries. Users must have fluent control over their Chakra to master this jutsu. That’s why few shinobi can use this technique in the series.
