Two of the most prominent Dojutsu in the Naruto universe are the Sharingan and the Rinnegan. The former Dojutsu was very mysterious, as Sharingan was introduced at the start of the series. Members of the Uchiha clan possessed the Sharingan, while only a handful of individuals possessed the Rinnegan. It was also called the Eye of God, and this was justified considering the miracles it was capable of doing.
While both of these ocular powers played a prominent role in the series, the Rinnegan outclasses the Sharingan by a large margin. While Sharingan has different stages, such as the Mangekyou and the Eternal Mangekyou, their powers could never be on par with the unique set of abilities that Rinnegan allows.
How is Rinnegan better than Sharingan?
The first good look at what Rinnegan is capable of was seen during the Pain’s Assault arc. It was revealed that this ocular power has an ability called the Rinne Rebirth, which can be used to revive hundreds of dead people simultaneously. However, this can only happen when the user sacrifices their life.
One of Rinnegan’s most important abilities is control over the Gedo statue. This status is basically the corpse of the Ten-Tails. When fed the Chakra from other tailed beasts, it can roar to life. Ten-Tails is an infinite power glitch. It allows the user to access endless abilities, which is another reason why Rinnegan is better than Sharingan.
Another great ability that makes the Rinnegan superior to the Sharingan is Pain’s ability to use a shared vision between all six paths. This was extremely useful as it helped them defeat the Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya. If used correctly, it is almost a hack during fighting.
One technique used several times in both Naruto and Boruto is Amenotejikara. This ability allows the user to teleport between short distances, and Sasuke uses it to his heart’s content while fighting enemies. Boruto showcased how useful it can be during fights. Whether used in offense or defense, it is convenient. Sasuke even used this technique to get out of being trapped in an alternate dimension.
Rinnegan users improvised the Dojutsu’s abilities
We know that Rinnegan allows the user to wield six formidable paths. These forms are manifestations of the nature of existence itself. The user can either attract or repel objects. They can mechanize other beings, summon entities, extract souls, and absorb chakra. However, the most powerful ability is control over life and death. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, they used this ability to bring Madara back to life. The pinnacle of the Outer Path even revives the dead.
Other Rinnegan users have improvised different ways to use this ocular power. Sasuke uses this to travel between dimensional portals, while Momoshiki manipulates matter through absorption or redistribution. When compared to another ocular power, which is closely related to the Rinnegan, it can be seen that the Rinne-Sharingan doesn’t have room for such flexibility. One of the most used abilities of the Rinnegan by Sasuke is the Amenotejikara. It allows him to teleport between short distances, which is a handy hack while fighting.
