ReLife
ReLIFE follows the story of Arata Kaizaki. He is an unemployed 27-year-old man who is bestowed with a second chance to live his life. As part of the ReLIFE experiment, he relives his high school life for a year. The majority of the series delves into Arata’s adult perspective on these teenage issues, which is a fresh breath of air.
The protagonist is somewhat similar to Hachiman from Oregairu. Arata is reserved and provides the audience with a more outsider viewpoint on high school drama. The romance theme in the series is flexible and feels natural. Arata’s love interest, Chizuru Hishiro, is also adorable without feeling forced.
Blue Spring Ride
Blue Spring Ride follows the story of Futaba Yoshioka, who meets her middle school crush, Tanaka Kou, after entering high school.
However, the boy has become rather indifferent. She remembers that he isn’t the Kou as their personalities differ drastically. The romantic theme of this series is more intense than Oregairu. However, Blue Spring Ride still handles the drama and comedy of high school life well.
The interactions between Futaba and Kou are similar to the banter between Hachiman and Yukino. The love triangle aspect and beautiful anime visuals further enhance the series.
Love, Chunibyou, & Other Delusions
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is another rom-com. The story revolves around Yuta Togashi, a former “Chunibyo” patient. He used to delve into his delusional fantasies. One day, he stumbles upon Rikka Takanashi, a girl who is still Chunibyou.
They become friends and start spending time together. The protagonist helps Rikka live her high school social life carefully and appreciates her stellar imagination.
