Magnolia Pictures has released the official trailer for their upcoming comedy-drama — that sometimes feels like a horror film — Tyrel. You can check out the trailer below, as well as the official poster in the gallery!
Tyrel follows Tyler, who joins his friend on a trip to the Catskills for a weekend birthday party with several people he doesn’t know. As soon as they get there, it’s clear that (1) he’s the only black guy, and (2) it’s going to be a weekend of heavy drinking. Although Tyler is welcomed, he can’t help but feel uneasy in “Whitesville.” The combination of all the testosterone and alcohol starts to get out of hand, and Tyler’s precarious situation starts to feel like a nightmare.
The movie, an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival, was directed and written by Sebastián Silva (The Maid, Sandra), who produced alongside Max Born and Jacob Wasserman.
Tyrel stars Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton, Mudbound), Christopher Abbott (James White, Catch-22), Michael Cera (Superbad, Arrested Development), Caleb Landry Jones (Three Billboards, Twin Peaks), Michael Zegan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Boardwalk Empire), Philip Ettinger (Compliance, One Dollar), Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary), and Emmy winner Reg. E. Cathey (Luke Cage, Outcast, House of Cards).
Magnolia Pictures will release Tyrel in theaters on December 5, 2018.
