This Friday, legendary musician RZA makes his directorial debut with an action-packed homage to classic martial arts films. The Man with the Iron Fists boasts a cast that includes Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, Jamie Chung, Cung Le, Dave Bautista, Byron Mann, Daniel Wu, Pam Grier and RZA himself with a screenplay by RZA and Hostel and Cabin Fever director Eli Roth.
Set in 19th century China, The Man with the Iron Fists follows a small town blacksmith (RZA) who has been forced to manufacture the best weapons in all the land. When dueling clans come to blows around him, the blacksmith is caught up in the middle and loses everything he cares about, including both his hands. Vowing to make weapons one last time, the Blacksmith forges a pair of iron fists and enters into the fray alongside colorful enemies and allies to seek his ultimate revenge.
ComingSoon.net had the opportunity to sit down with stars Yune, Mann, Le, Chung and Bautista as well as with RZA and Roth to discuss the epic nature of his martial arts world and how there’s the possibility of many other stories being told within it.
