Beverly Hills Cop Heading to the Small Screen?

It was reported late last year that Eddie Murphy was interested in bringing the Beverly Hills Cop franchise to the small screen. Today, Vulture reports that such a project is moving forward and that “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan is producing alongside Murphy and Sony Pictures Television.

Murphy would reprise his role as Axel Foley in a guest-star capacity and the focus of the series would be the character’s police officer son.

“Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit,” Murphy told Rolling Stone last October. “I’d do the pilot, show up here and there.”

Vulture suggests that the show will operate as an hourlong procedural which, like the film, will blend action and comedy.
