Lionsgate acquires the U.S. rights to Sandra Bullock’s Vigilance
Lionsgate has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the upcoming Sandra Bullock action film Vigilance, according to Variety. Vigilance is the story of an American (Bullock) who is working at a London armored car company that had been a robbery target. “Her motivations for working there grow more mysterious and tangled.” The deal for Vigilance was announced at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Vigilance will be directed by Josef Wladyka (Narcos) and production will reportedly be overseen by Joel Silver (The Matrix).
Sandra Bullock is known for her work in films like Speed, While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality, The Net, A Time to Kill and Practical Magic with Nicole Kidman. She’s also been seen in the films Crash, The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds and The Heat. Bullock won an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama for playing the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the film The Blind Side in 2009. She was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in the 2013 film Gravity. Bullock recently starred in the film Our Brand is Crisis with Billy Bob Thornton and Anthony Mackie. She also voiced the role of Scarlet Overkill in the animated film Minions.
Bullock is also the founder of the production company Fortis Films. Her next films include the sci-fi thriller Bird Box and Ocean’s Eight with Sarah Paulson, Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Dakota Fanning, Katie Holmes, Anne Hathaway and Mindy Kaling. Bullock will play the role of Debbie Ocean.
