British actor Toby Kebbell hasn’t been seen on the big screen for that long but he always tends to make an impact with the characters he plays, whether it’s the title character in Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla or playing Joy Division manager Rob Gretton in Anton Corbijn’s Control. Two years ago, Kebbell starred in a couple big movies for Jerry Bruckheimer and Walt Disney Pictures, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and then last year, he acted in a pivotal scene in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse.
In Jonathan Liebesman’s Greek Gods epic Wrath of the Titans, out this Friday, Kebbell plays Agenor, son of Poseidon, who joins the latest quest by Sam Worthington’s Perseus, this time trying to save his father Zeus (Liam Neeson) from imprisonment by his brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes).
ComingSoon.net spoke to Kebbell last week and though he hadn’t seen the movie yet, in the video interview below, you can hear him talk about how he was approached to play Agenor, how he’s almost unrecognizable as the character, as well as the fantastic locations they visited to shoot the movie. He also told us how he didn’t want his character to merely be two-dimensional comic relief and how he worked with Sam Worthington and Jonathan Liebesman on that. We also discussed acting opposite CG creatures as well as being one of the members of the cast who survives – Perseus is doing a little better in that respect as a leader this time. We also talk very briefly about Brit (Another Earth) Marling’s next movie The East (which he hasn’t seen yet either) and other such things.
