Catherine Keener (Being John Malkovich, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) has been cast as the wife of Captain Phillips, starring opposite Tom Hanks in the true tale of the man taken hostage by Somali pirates.
Captain Richard Phillips captained the MV Maersk Alabama which, in April of 2009, was hijacked by Somali pirates. Phillips bravely offered himself as a hostage to protect his crew and spent three days a prisoner before being rescued by a team of U.S. Navy SEALS.
The project will be based off Phillip’s memoir, “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea,” and is expected to enter production shortly.
