Richard Ayoade’s (Submarine) adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s The Double is moving forward and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has just added Mia Wasikowska to its cast. She’ll star opposite the previously-announced Jesse Eisenberg.
The original novella (under the title The Double: A Petersburg Poem) was published in 1846 and focuses on a file clerk who begins to lose his grip on sanity when a duplicate version of himself appears and begins to take over his life.
Eisenberg will play the lead (Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin in the original, but likely to be re-named) as well as his doppelganger while Wasikowska’s role remains unconfirmed.
