Paramount Pictures has announced the upcoming Bad Robot feature Overlord will arrive in theaters on October 26, 2018. The film, from director Julius Avery (Son of a Gun), is based on an original idea by The Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray and Bad Robot’s own J.J. Abrams.

The Overlord cast includes Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers), Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!), Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones), Iain de Caestecker (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD), John Magaro (The Big Short), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo).
Set on the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation.
A Bad Robot production, Overlord is produced by J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber, and written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant). Overlord began shooting in May in the U.K.
It remains to be seen if this film will have ties to the ever-expanding “Cloverfield” cinematic universe, which includes the 2008 original, last year’s 10 Cloverfield Lane, and this year’s God Particle. God Particle will arrive in theaters on October 27 of this year, one year prior to Overlord.
