After dropping director Patty Jenkins for Alan Taylor, Marvel Studios’ Thor 2 is now scheduled for a rewrite. Deadline says that Robert Rodat (best known for Saving Private Ryan) has come aboard to provide exactly that.
Rodat, more recently one of the writers behind “Falling Skies,” will take over the initial draft from Don Payne, who also worked on the original Thor.
Set to star Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston, the plan was to begin shooting as early as this summer for a November 15, 2013 release. There’s not yet word on how a rewrite might affect the production schedule.
Hemsworth’s Thor can, meanwhile, be seen in this summer’s Marvel’s The Avengers, hitting theaters on May 4th.
