The Grey director Joe Carnahan has dropped out of helming Umbra, which will now be directed by Martin Campbell (Green Lantern, Casino Royale), says Deadline.
The project centers on a businessman who finds a mysterious package in his mailbox and is thrust into the middle of a secret government agency conspiracy. Running for his life while piecing together the clues, the man learns some startling truths about himself and his unwitting connection to the agency that’s hunting him.
Paul Haggis, who rewrote the Campbell-directed Casino Royale, has been brought on board to rewrite the Endgame Entertainment-funded drama. Endgames James Stern is producing with Hal Lieberman and Campbells production partner Lucienne Papon has also joined as producer.
Shooting is scheduled to start in the spring.
