In the film based on Brian Selznick’s critically-acclaimed novel, Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.
The family film stars Oakes Fegley (Pete’s Dragon), Julianne Moore (Far From Heaven), Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine) and introduces Millicent Simmonds.
Wonderstruck is adapted from the YA book by Brian Selznick (Hugo) by the author himself, and directed by Haynes. The film is produced by Pamela Koffler, John Sloss and Christine Vachon of Killer Films.
Wonderstruck will have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, with Amazon and Roadside Attractions releasing the film in theaters on October 20, 2017.
