Showtime has plans to adapt Brian Hurtt and Cullen Bunn’s Oni Press comic book series, “The Damned,” into a television show, Deadline reports. The supernatural crime drama is officially described as follows:
Sometimes, the only person you can trust is a dead man.
Caught in the middle of a sinister web of murder, kidnapping, betrayal, and damnation, Eddie – cursed and unable to rest- can’t escape the city’s most ruthless warring demon gangs. This action-packed prohibition-era thriller combines the supernatural sensibilities of Joss Whedon with the stark reality of “Miller’s Crossing” and “The Godfather”.
David Hayter, known to comic book movie fans for drafting X-Men, X2 and Watchmen, is in charge of developing the series on the writing end. While the original comic book miniseries was set during prohibition, the TV version is expected to take place during present day.
