Stephanie Sigman to Lead CBS’ SWAT Series

SPECTRE’s Stephanie Sigman will headline the new CBS SWAT series

Stephanie Sigman, best known for heading Gerardo Naranjo’s Miss Bala and for starring opposite Daniel Craig in the opening to the James Bond adventure SPECTRE, is set to headline Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios‘ upcoming SWAT series. The police procedural follows the lives of a California-based Special Weapons And Tactics team. Variety has the news, reporting that Sigman will play a SWAT Lieutenant named Jessica, who is “ambitious and fastidious, and has earned her high ranking at S.W.A.T. headquarters.”

Sigman is the first cast member to join the new SWAT series. The show is based on the 1975 – 1976 ABC series and its subsequent 2003 big-screen adaptation. Directed by Clark Johnson, the SWAT movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J, and Jeremy Renner. The series, meanwhile, initially served as a spin-off of another Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg-produced ABC police series, The Rookies. The first SWAT series ran for two seasons, totaling 37 episodes.

The new SWAT series pilot will be directed by Justin Lin, the four-time Fast and the Furious helmer who recently directed Star Trek Beyond. He’ll be working from a screenplay by Aaron Thomas. Lin and Thomas will also executive produce with Marney Hochman, Neal Moritz, Shawn Ryan, Pavun Shetty, and Danielle Woodrow.

No stranger to the small screen, Stephanie Sigman has recently been seen on shows like ABC’s American Crime and Netflix‘s Narcos. She can be seen in theaters later this year as part of the cast of New Line Cinema’s The Conjuring spinoff sequel, Annabelle 2.
