Joel David Moore is set to join the cast of Oliver Stone’s Savages, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on the novel by Don Winslow novel, the book features two friends from Laguna Beach (Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch) who share the same girlfriend (Blake Lively) and a thriving business growing and distributing the best-quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel, the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they’ve made for the last five years. They agree to pay but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost.
Salma Hayek will play the role of Mexican cartel queen-pin Elena and Benicio Del Toro is portraying vicious cartel enforcer Lado. John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Demian Bichir are also set to appear.
Moore, who will play a computer expert who gets involved in the drug trade, is best known for his appearance in Avatar and as a regular on the television series “Bones.” He’ll next appear in David R. Ellis’ Shark Night 3D.
Savages, a Universal Pictures release, is scheduled to start filming next month.
