The Hollywood Reporter says Betty Thomas (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel) is in talks to direct Desperados. Wayne McClammy was previously attached to direct the Universal comedy, but left due to creative differences, says the trade.
Isla Fischer is still attached to star to the film. The story is set in motion when a woman sends an indignant e-mail to her new beau, who’s gone silent after they have sex. When she discovers he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the e-mail before he recovers.
The screenplay was written by Ellen Rapoport. Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Jennifer Todd are producing.
