Daniel Bruhl, Rosamund Pike and Vincent Cassel are in talks to join the cast of Jose Padilha’s Entebbe
A cast is beginning to come together for director Jose Padilha’s Entebbe. According to a report today at Deadline, stars Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War, The Fifth Estate), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Eastern Promises) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, The World’s End) are all in talks to join the Entebbe cast.
Scripted by Greg Burke (’71), Entebbe tells the true story of the terrorist hijacking of an Air France flight in June of 1976. Two members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine took control of the vessel and diverted the plane to Entebbe Airport in Uganda. Nearly 250 passengers were held hostage with the demand that more than 50 Palestinian prisoners be released all around the world.
Set up at Working Title with Participant Media, Entebbe will be produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Kate Solomon.
Padhila is best known for helming the 2007 crime thriller Elite Squad as well as its 2010 sequel, Elite Squad: The Enemy Within. He was also the director behind Sony Pictures‘ recent attempt to reboot the RoboCop franchise with Joel Kinnaman in the lead.
It is unclear when or if Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the actor can be seen coming up in Niki Caro’s World War II drama The Zookeeper’s Wife and in the science fiction thriller God Particle. Rosamund Pike, meanwhile, is currently lending her voice to Amazon Studios‘ Thunderbirds Are Go and will next headline Brad Anderson’s period action thriller High Wire Act. Vicent Cassel, then, returns to the big screen today as part of the cast of Paul Greengrass’ franchise sequel Jason Bourne.
