Director Darren Lynn Bousman speaks about his new haunted house chiller ABATTOIR.
Buying a fixer-upper house can be murder, especially in this horrible real estate market. A brand new clip from Darren Lynn Bousmans latest horror feature, ABATTOIR, has recently debuted online. The clip, which you can see below, features Julia Talben (Jessica Lowndes) and detective Grady (Joe Anderson), who enter Julias deceased sisters house to find the murder room (presumably, the room in which a horrible murder took place) is completely missing from the house.
The house with a murder room literally has holes in the walls and missing rooms. If this film doesnt even have any additional murders of any kind, Im already terrified. I am imagining the plumbing bill and trying to match the stucco and its really upsetting.
Were lucky enough to have some exclusive words from director Bousman about this clip. Abattoir is a story about loss, he says. Things being ripped away from people; lives, relationships, and evens rooms. This scene is a quiet moment that best visualizes the taking of a moment in time. A tragedy took place in this environment a few days earlier, and this scene shows our two main characters returning to the house looking for closure only to find more holes in their life! Literally and figuratively.
ABATTOIR has a noir atmosphere and a crime/thriller vibe, but apparently gets pretty grim and violent. Were looking forward to seeing ABATTOIR at its premiere on Tuesday June 7th at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Im excited for people to see Abattoir, Bousman tells SHOCK. As I director I strive to make different types of films with each outing. I was in a huge Noir-esque moment of time when I shot this, so audiences will see a crazy mix of horror and noir in the flick. And, of course a little of my weirdness okay, a lot of it!
