Poltergeist Clip Follows the Shadows

Gil Kenan’s remake of the Tobe Hooper-directed, Steven Spielberg-produced haunted house classic Poltergeist is out this week. Other than the ubiquity of that creepy little clown however, we’re still a bit unsure what to expect. A new clip would point toward some blend of classical and all-too-familiar horror.

The  Poltergeist clip finds Sam Rockwell following the shadowy specter of his daughter throughout the home. The lights of the house flicker and it feels a bit old-fashioned, prior actions of a home imprinting on the walls in some Stone Tape-like manner. When Rockwell catches up with the girl however, we’re privy to a moment far too reminiscent of the blandest contemporary horror.

Will one outweigh the other this weekend?
